Cathy Fisher established New World Wellness Center in 2003 to share her passion for healthy, balanced living. Her journey to achieving her own Optimal Wellness started many years ago.

 

Cathy's story, (in her own words):
I caught the "fitness bug" when I was just 12 years old. To prepare to participate in a NASCAR pit crew competition, I taught myself weight lifting so I could gain upper body strength. I loved the surge of energy I felt when I strength trained and also gained confidence in my body image and movement ability. All the hours of strength training and practice paid off as I achieved my goal of being the fastest tire changer at the competition in a record time of 8 seconds flat! My passion for exercise continued and I attribute my dedication to daily exercise, (including participation in the men's power-lifting team), for my successful achievement of my engineering degree which was a rigorous 5 year work/study program. The mental focus and physical stamina I gained through my commitment to healthy eating and physical activity helped me through long hours of study with amazing academic results. I remember thinking to myself at that time, "I can't imagine living my life without doing some type of exercise every day."

Then life got in the way!

My dream of being an entrepreneur was realized in 1996 when I started my business development consultancy, Quality Improvement Strategies. However, as my business grew, my health deteriorated from poor eating habits and not-so-nutritious food choices, lack of sleep and no exercise. By 2001, my body, (and mind), were so unbalanced that I nearly died from a chronic systemic yeast infection which caused many other health complications. I was fortunate to have met several holistic health practitioners who reminded me of my body's innate ability to heal; they supported me on my journey to a level of wellness I enjoy today that is the best I have ever lived. My own healing journey to Optimal Wellness sparked my passion for sharing with others how quick, easy and fun healthy living can be.

Cathy's training & certifications: I am an avid learner and continuously enhance my education to offer my clients the most effective approach to enjoying a life of Optimal Wellness.

Cathy maintains current certifications with:

  • Institute for Integrative Nutrition Health Coach
  • National Academy of Sports Medicine, (NASM), Certified Personal Trainer and Corrective Exercise Specialist
  • Stott Pilates Level 1 & 2 Instructor
  • Yoga Alliance 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher
  • Cathy is also a certified personal trainer through International Sports Sciences Association, (ISSA),
  • certified group fitness instructor through Aerobics and Fitness Association of America, (AFAA),
  • and was the first to have fulfilled Part 1 & 2 requirements for registration as a Personal Fitness trainer through the National Board of Fitness Examiners, (NBFE).

Cathy works collaboratively with physical therapists, chiropractors, naturopathic as well as traditional medical doctors to customize client wellness programs for unique client health conditions.
